ENGLISH CLASS

To a native English speaker, the English language feels intuitive, but learning English as a foreign language can be quite challenging. For example, try to explain how “TOUGH,” “THOUGH,” “THOUGHT,” and “THROUGH” have virtually the same spelling but sound completely different. Or why is the past tense of “go” “went”?

Knowing that we have many native Spanish speakers in our community who would like to learn English, in the spring of 2024 we began offering an English class. The class proved so popular that enrollment doubled in the fall, and we added a second class.

Taught by two professional teachers from the Haverstraw school district, the dynamic duo of the Jennifers Vitti and Feliz, the class meets for two hours once a week for 12 weeks, April through June and September through November.
