OUR TIFFANY WINDOWS

Louis Comfort Tiffany was one of the pioneers of the American school of stained glass. Tiffany windows are defined by the color and texture of the glass. Without applying paint, Tiffany achieved extraordinary effects by using metallic oxides in new and complex combinations. When the windows were installed in 1908, Tiffany had perfected his stained glass techniques, and his studios were at their peak of creativity and production.

Our sanctuary features 13 windows designed by Tiffany Studios in New York City, including the glorious Ascension window that’s viewable from Hudson Ave. and the stunning Road to Emmaus window, which was created in honor of Rev. Dr. Amasa Freeman, our founding pastor, who served the church for 52 years. In addition, adjacent to the sanctuary, the chapel and parlor each contain windows designed by students of Tiffany. More than simply aesthetically beautiful, each of the windows is theologically rich and tells a story.
